The paper presents the characteristics of wind and solar resources of the Southern Federal District on the basis of which the assessment of the prospects for introducing innovative innovations such as perovskite photovoltaic cells and Vertical-axis wind turbines into the process of district energy production is given.

The authors solve the problem of effective use of energy sources of wind-diesel hybrid power stations for autonomous electric consumers. A new device connecting energy sources has been developed. Universal voltage converter (UVC) allows to connect both of AC and DC sources with a wide range of rated output voltages. UVC can be used as a part of smart grid or SCADA system. The UVC control system automatically determines the type of the connected power source and issues switching commands for consumer circuits. A 30 kVA UVC prototype was created. The article gives a UVC brief description and presents the results of the prototype research.

Nowadays, the main way to improve power density is increasing the junction temperature of semiconductor devices and as a result, increasing the temperature of the heat sink. This results in a lower efficiency due to the high temperature caused by increasing power losses. To solve this problem, it’s possible to develop the heat sink for a specific system, or to optimize existing heat sink profiles. This paper presents an FEM-analysis describing thermal behavior of a bidirectional switch used in a direct matrix converter.

Work is devoted mathematical modelling of processes in the channel of the MHD-device with the conical axisymmetric form of a channel. The assumptions accepted at modelling are formulated. The mathematical description of a prototype system with usage of known laws of electrodynamics is conducted. The equations of components of density of current, a magnetic field and electromagnetic forces in the conical part of the channel of the observed device are defined. Adequacy of the developed model is confirm by results of computer simulation of processes in the channel of the device. Deductions about applicability of results of the given work are presented.
