The review of the existing technologies of producing and experience in implementing in the Russia and other countries of the FRP shells of gas exhaust trunks was made. The main results of the development of new technology of producing of FRP shells are described. The main prospective area of using of this technology, is the reconstruction of the tall chimneys with the erection of inner liner from the FRP shells.

The FRP sandwich shells produced by the filament winding for gas exhaust trunks are described. The main types of the cores and the specific features of the winding of the sandwich shells are described. The mechanical characteristics for the some types of cores was given, they can be used for the design of constructions.

The paper is dedicated to development of modified technology of producing and erection of large fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) shells. This work gowing with the support of Russian Ministry of science and education. Technology is baced on the method of the vertical wet winding with the growing. The main prospective area of using of this technology, is the reconstruction of the tall chimneys with the erection of inner liner from the FRP shells.
